Family: Amaryllidaceae
Flower Colour:

red,
Found in the western part of the Croatian peninsula of Istria, slightly south of the Limski Channel. The inflorescences actually look like black balls in the meadows. We found the species only in the area around Barbariga. According to POW, subsp. waldsteinii is listed as a synonym of Allium rotundum, but the difference in K. Rottensteiner's "Exkursionsflora für Istrien" for the Istrian plants is that the inner petals are also dark. Furthermore, I find the fused flowers remarkable, so that no pedicels are recognisable, whereas in rotundum the flowers are often detached from each other.
